WHAT'S FOR LUNCH? AN ODE TO THE PIGEONS OF WALLRAFPLATZ

This photograph was taken on Wallrafplatz, Cologne, Germany. My decision to present this photograph in black and white was inspired by the work of Henri Cartier-Bresson, who believed "to take a photograph is to align the head, the eye and the heart. It's a way of life". A touch of humour in the title, "What's for lunch? An ode to the pigeons of Wallrafplatz", aimed to spark the viewer's curiosity to take a closer look at the 'pigeon-scene'. The original colour version of this photograph was intended to capture the dynamics of the entire street scene. However, simplifying the composition provided an efficient way of focusing on the presence of a delicate balance between nature and human life within this particular urban environment.
