This project focuses on the faces of wooded life cut short. These images of severed cross sections and tree slices serve as personal portraits memorializing these trees felled for paper, wood or oils, and further exacerbating global warming and limiting the future of generations to come.
We came to this photographic project with some degree of personal responsibility and regret. At the behest of our town, with a building permit in the offing, we removed an outcropping of “non-native” redwood trees. The portraits of trees “cut short” is our tribute to the one time inhabitants of our property.
