Having taken photos in and around Sydney’s Central Station for over ten years I came to notice more and more solitary men, standing and staring into the middle distance. How many roads have they walked down to arrive in that place? Using a long exposure I tried to capture the city swirling around them, as they appeared untethered and disorientated, appearing like T.S.Eliot’s The Hollow Men:
"Shape without form, shade without colour,
Paralysed force, gesture without motion;
Remember us-if at all-not as lost
Violent souls, but only
As the hollow men
The stuffed men."
