Some of my latest black & white work, all shot on the streets of Vienna, Austria - Europe. I am actually autistic. For me almost all people look pretty much the same. It's incredible hard for me to see differences and identify individuals. This is reflected in my work, because most of the time I don't take pictures of specific people. They just happen to be there and form a canvas for the lights and shadows I want to photograph. Most of the time the people in my pictures are completely random and totally replaceable. It's not about them, it's always about the light and the shadows.
But on very rare occasions, if a person's appearance is unique enough to just stand out, I really can focus on the person. Take a picture of them, as they are. In this rare occasions they are my main focus, and light and shadows move into the background to become the canvas instead for this unique appearance. This can be seen in my picture of a ballerina entering a Louis Vuitton store.
