This is Marian Turski (96), survivor of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, the January 1945 Death March from Auschwitz to Wodzisław Śląski and the Buchenwald concentration camp.
After the war he worked as a historian and journalist for various entities.
He took part in Martin Luther King's march against racial segregation in the South of United States: from Selma to Montgomery.
The following portraits I took during filming a documentary about his life and inspired by his quote: "11th commandment: Do not be indifferent".
Taken, while he visited his long time friend, painter Andrzej Fogtt, Inżynierska street, Warsaw, Poland, June 2022.
