Fate
A juxtaposition of ordinary street scenes. Extract something extraordinary out of the ordinary, a hidden reality that the eye does not see but that the camera reveals, is what I seek. Large areas of strong light and deep shadows, negative space implying the existence in our life of powers beyond our control, high contrast and sometimes blurred outlines aim to an otherworldly atmosphere and a sense of fate. The shadows create abstract forms combined with figuration showing people through their posture and movement and the relations between them in space. The background and foreground are as important as the subject. Settings are the scene, selected as simple as possible, surfaces charged with history. The relation between light and shadow, space, silence, timelessness, subject and background, the passing of time, are my favourite themes.
