Buildings in NY, NO SKY is an attempt to show urban cityscapes that highlight the play of geometry and light without the sky. A race of one-upmanship, as architectures of different eras compete to outshine each other. I often think of Ayn Rand´s novel The Fountainhead where, to paraphrase badly, buildings are seen by one characters as ¨Man, reaching up to grab the throat of God.¨ I have tried to capture the elegance of City's geometry, as it reflects and is sculpted by its surroundings, in an abstract way.
