The past century has seen a dramatic acceleration in the rate of global warming which is causing glaciers to melt, and raising sea levels. For coastal forests, not only are there the issues of rising sea levels, and strengthening storm surges, but also sinking land levels. These factors cause salt water intrusion killing massive acreages of forest due to salt intoxication, and creating what scientists call "Ghost Forests" My aim is to educate others through images accompanied by information. As Fred Bernard said, "A picture is worth a thousand words". "Ghost forests" are a symptom, that can't be missed, of what is is already here, and what is to come. I hope that through presenting images that may have, what some might call a beautiful quality, that it will help people to think about what they are seeing, and recognize that these images are not beautiful, but tragic. I hope to continue to imprint images in people's minds along with the first hand information from scientists and the indigenous protectors of this land. I am learning more and more every day, and it feels like a blessing to learn of all the devoted people around the world who are actually out there doing something for change. There are not nearly enough though, and this is a global emergency. This group of images are from Southern New Jersey, however my project is ongoing and covers the East Coast of the United States.
