In 2022, Russia became a dictatorship at war. The invasion of Ukraine triggered the exodus of hundreds of intellectuals and artists from Russia. They publicly condemned the war and their voices are of critical importance. A new generation of Russian exiles is scattered across Europe and the post-Soviet republics, hoping to come home soon. Tens of thousands of Russians have moved to Georgia and Armenia since the start of the war with Ukraine, changing local cultural and business landscapes. Apart from offering services that have never been available on the local markets, they have also inflated prices, especially for rent, forcing some locals to question the positive effect, brought by the newcomers.
