I work spontaneously. It has been my experience that an amazing idea can come out of something as menial as an exercise. In most cases I stumble upon an idea while taking a photograph just for the sake of actually putting something on paper. The work itself tells me what it is about. In my recent photos, my goal is to remove sense of place and time. I work with a variety of processes that range from late 19th century to contemporary techniques. My images fool the viewer into believing they could have been photographed any time in the last century, and place is nearly ubiquitous. In many pieces the presence of civilization is removed, despite the fact that often times I am photographing in an urban area.
