Selection of photographs from my recent foray into photomicrography

Since the beginning of the Covid pandemic, I have been buying, restoring, and using lovely but ancient German research microscopes. A particular function of some of these microscopes is to allow the viewing (and photographing) of various materials under polarised light. I have had a very strong interest in photography for 25 years, and while not being able to go out to take photographs thanks to the lockdowns, I pointed my camera down the photo tube, and into micro worlds in the microscope, and found that I could make appealing photographs. I am most proud that these images are not contrived or significantly changed from how they appeared on my microscope slides. They are absolutely real images of absolutely physical things. The important thing is being able to find composition in a sea of shape and colour.
