On Jan 1st 2021 23 years old Harun Abu Aram was shot in the neck from point blank range by Israeli soldiers. That shot left him paralyzed from the head down.
Harun lives in a little village in the hills south of the Palestinian city of Hebron. For generations people in this area have lived in caves. Sometimes when the caves get crowded, the local have built little shacks next by. Unfortunately, as a matter of policy the Israeli military refuses to issue any building permits to Palestinians. A month prior to the incident that left Harun paralyzed, the army came with bulldozers to demolish four homes in the community; Abu Aram’s was one of those homes.
On the day in question few soldiers reached the village and found Harun rebuilding one of the homes that had been demolished. For the construction he was using a generator. The soldiers decided to confiscate the generator. A struggle began where each side is pulling the tiny generator to his side. Then suddenly, a gunshot rang out, and Harun fell to the ground.
For two years Harun has been living like that. His mom and his 17 years old sister are taking care of him. He suffers from severe health problems. yet he prefers to stay in the cave where he grew up close to nature as long as he stays alive.
