TopDown is a series of images investigating the portrayal of human activity nestled within the vastness of the natural world. The series confronts themes of industrialization, urban sprawl, and the simple yet complicated beauty of the environments depicted. My intention was to balance a sense of voyeurism with the sublime awe of aerial images in order to challenge viewers to reconsider what they always thought was familiar. Negotiating between order and chaos, ethereal and somber, and with a subtle mystery that reiterates how views and angles are never fully known.
