On assignment from Black Oak Society, I was tasked with shooting two women for an exhibition called "Give Black Raleigh Her Flowers". The exhibition celebrated the powerful matriarchy that has helped shape the rich black culture of Raleigh, North Carolina.
"Octavia Rainey is a resident of the College Park neighborhood and has been a fair housing advocate for nearly 50 years. She has become a household name in her community by being a constant presence in city council meetings, advocating for the preservation of her neighborhood and the prioritization of fair, affordable, housing for Raleigh's underserved residents. She is also a repository of Raleigh's Black History, and has created an educational tour of Black Raleigh's historic neighborhoods."
