The forest in the eyes

These photographs are from the album of the confinement of Juan Millás. A memory of the weeks that the photographer and his family spent locked up in their Madrid apartment during the 2020 health crisis. Millás has been interested in natural processes for a long time, which is why domestic scenes are mixed with images of fauna and flora from his personal photographic archive. In the absence of landscape, the author takes refuge in the idea of dressing "The forest in the eyes." Thus, Millás conceives these images as a kind of territory of associations where the wild and the domestic are not expressed as opposed terms, but as interdependent ideas. They are fragments of lived or imagined dreams that represent the gradual appearance of the forest before the eyes of a photographer: the awakening of a naturalistic conscience within an anthropocentric society.
