New Humans, New Gods

The relationship between animals and human beings has always been permeated by a sense of magic and mystery, though it declined gradually when time passed by, and turned out to be transformed into a relationship of unilateral exploitation. My idea of how to develop and realize this photographic work of art, which invites to re-discover the human kind through by means of other living species, is to put the focus on the big fascination of human beings with animals, which nonetheless has often generated risks and has caused the marginalization or even the extinction of quite a number of species. Despite these circumstances, this kind of primeval attraction still exists, and is meant to be of crucial importance to my project, as far as the atavistic energy of the “beast” has conferred a certain creative power to all human beings, which seemed to be indispensable for their evolution and survival. The action should reflect on human being’s evolution and at the same time on the very one of animals, as many species of animals disappeared, as soon as the human species emerged. The intention is to emphasize the empathetic part of human beings. Nowadays, even if some species of animals are living with us, and yet their variety has disappeared, it has become rather difficult to encounter them at all. That’s why they risk to lose their role as “messengers” of an immaterial and secret orb that remind us of our divine and universal origin.
