Synthesis is an evolving project exploring the human figure through the process of chlorophyll printing, an alternative photographic process involving Photosynthesis.
As the prints expose in the sun, the veins of the leaves become more pronounced eventually entwining themselves with the figures, like connective tissue, to become part of the subjects. These ephemeral works begin dying as soon as they finish exposing and eventually when the printed image has vanished, the viewer is left with a dead leaf and only the visual memory of what once was.
Working in this unpredictable process challenges me to become comfortable with impermanence and to embrace the experience of time, loss and memory.
