I live in northern woods. My practice is entering these woods daily with my camera and seeing what calls or, just as often, whispers to me. The woods themselves are an invocation, an invitation to wander and see what the light and life within are pointing out. I feel I am photographing magic.
My aim is to bring this magic out, to make images that invoke the presence and mystique of this intimate ecosystem.
Included occasionally within this on-going series is another series I call Shadow Drawings. Toned drawing paper is placed to create shadows that then interact with the physical surroundings, creating another layer of visual connotations. The images 'Prayer', and 'Opening' are examples.
