It isn't until you come across the armed perimeter outposts of the exclusion zone that you realise that this is somewhere altogether more serious...
On the 26th April 1986, a routine test at the Chernobyl power station went drastically wrong. The resulting explosion and fire released large quantities of radioactive contamination into the atmosphere and which spread over much of Western USSR and Europe.
This was my study taken over 2 trips to the abandoned city of Pripyat with an infrared converted camera.
