In the summer of 2022, I had the opportunity to visit Amboseli in Kenya. While there, local guides spoke a lot about the devastating effects of the drought on both people and animals in the area. We saw skeletons littering the dusty landscape. We passed the same carcass of a zebra numerous times. Without exception, all of the locals we spoke to believed that the drought was directly correlated to climate change. While seeing animal remains everywhere was saddening, it was inspiring to see the tenacity of the animals in the face of such difficulty. It was a good reminder of our human culpability and that we must care more for this planet we call home.
