Heliotropes

Since moving to Southern California from the UK a year ago, I've been making portraits of fellow members of the LGBTQIA+ community that I meet here. In a new country, with no networks or friends, it's the community that I turned to in order to find some familial bonds in an unfamiliar landscape. I use the camera as much as a social tool as a photographic one in this scenario, with my image-making practice giving me something to lean on in my search for connection and camaraderie.
