I began this project with the question, “When I am elderly, what will I have and how will I find happiness?” so I decided to go around the country to search for the answer and take pictures.
When I went out, I met many older people who were very interesting. I spent all night talking and listening to some people’s experiences. Such as ‘Lek’, who was a protector at Phadam forest. He protected the forest so that the next generation would have water. Or a friendly yoga called ‘Buesorn’ who uses yoga as is therapy for her health condition and also a senior teacher whose passion for teaching lasted until her final moment in life.
I learned that she had passed away when I visited her school to give her a physical copy of her picture. Likewise, I delivered a picture to all of the elderly subjects in this project to show my gratitude. I met more than 20 people and captured them in my memory with my shutter.
Thanks to the ageing society project, I could see and understand more about life in terms of happiness, sadness and loss while I also found an answer about how to live my life. So finally there might not be a single answer to finding happiness because each person has a different approach to life and everything we experience is a combination of our time in this world.
