As a photographer, I have attempted to try and find both beauty and a feeling of abstractness in the every day spaces to challenge myself and the viewer to look at life with a more attentive eye. I had initially started to do photography in response to my mother passing away. She was a professional artist that graduated from RISD and mostly dealt with abstract paintings. Her own work has greatly shaped my own perspective on seeing/photographing the world around me. My inspiration is most specifically highlighted in the work she produced in the 90s when she lived in Philadelphia that melded abstract with cityscape motifs. I believe my journey as an photographer is still in its infancy stage but I hope to continue learning about how to better fine tune my art and personal style. My goal is to make art that people can both glance quickly at for the aesthetic enjoyment of the image or study it more deeply to connect the art to their own experience of seemingly mundane views of everyday life. If you like these photographs, I post a lot of my art on instagram at @aesthetic_griff
