Each pairing here includes an image from Massachusetts and one from California - the place I grew up, and the place I have spent my adult life. The tension between these two visual influences has always intrigued me, because I perceived them to be so different. One was always home, and one still feels foreign.Yet, as I paired these images, I discovered more similarities than differences. Not coincidentally, this process took place after my mother passed away, marking the end of my physical ties to the east coast.
