What happens when you are shaken to your core by betrayal? The void and the pain occupy all the familiar places. The footprint of the perpetrator lives everywhere, and the empty space takes shape, heavy and somber, staining the betrayed’s soul.
What is left to the betrayed? The only option is to erase the footprint, occupy the space that once belonged to the other party. Love and trust are then replaced by pain, grief, sadness, anxiety, numbness. And then, the betrayed hopes that as she occupies the void, she heals.
In this series, I’m exploring the effects of betrayal, as I traverse one, and the effort needed to overcome this traumatizing event. Playing with light and darkness I want to create an atmosphere of hopelessness, that then is replaced by a person in search of herself.
