I'm captivated by the small details (rather more than the grandeur) of Nature, and I'm finding that making images WITHIN the camera allows for the elements of chance and experiment I've previously so embraced in painting. These images are made (usually very fast and on the spot) and then minimally adjusted in Lightroom to retain a sense of place and the atmosphere of the situation. There is so much scope for more, including taking shots entirely without anticipation of those that may come after them.
