This project statement applies only to the last two images -- Scaffolding (self-portrait) and Tool Shed (self-portrait). By creating nude self-portraits in public domains traditionally controlled by men, such as construction sites, I hope to create space for reflection on the physical and psychological vulnerability of women in our society. These self-portraits were made on scaffolding that had been erected outside my second-floor apartment. On weekends, when the workers were not there, I re-purposed their work area.
