I spent some time with some nomadic Kazakh herders in Western Mongolia living with them and understanding their hard life. During that time I witnessed some herders migrating across vast distances in extreme conditions.
The herders spend time in different locations throughout the year migrating between each one with their family, livestock and possessions. Some of the herders are also eagle hunters a celebrated sport in the region. It takes extreme skill and patience to train the eagles from a young age to the point they are ready for competition.
I wanted to witness and document this lifestyle as it is gradually dying out as the herders children go to university and in large numbers are choosing to move to cities. Also it shows how people live in a way that is so different to the western way of life and yet they are happy.
This is a small selection of photographs attempting to portray this incredible lifestyle and the amazing people.
