In much of my work I'm dealing with subjects that are in a transitory state, subjects that are in transition through time and decomposition. Provided are selections from the ongoing series, Evanescence. This series features numerous images from composted organic materials shot over nearly a 2 year period. The series is still in progress with work being produced from this subject within the past few months. In this body of work I'm exploring the mechanics of transition through time, neglect and natural decomposition. Subjects that in their own specific way function as a part of a transient process. These elements bring to mind thinking about the contrast of the lovely and the less than beautiful. The decomposition of natural compositions. Thoughts about mortality and vitality can arise from participating in these sorts of themes and that thoughtful imagery abounds for me in my own creative process. Additionally, we can see a rather timely theme regarding renewable energy and environmental issues and a need for composting and recycling of raw materials.
