Tsila, my wife and life partner, was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2012. She had double mastectomy surgery, followed by 4 months of chemotherapy. Since, she has fully recovered and gone back to normal life and back to her real passion of running and jogging and participating in races around the country.
She's Doing Fine.
As Tsila's husband and partner to life I was with her through all the time of surgery and treatments, supporting and helping trough all the hardships, the ups and the downs. It was painful and heart breaking for me to see my love suffering with no way for me to make it better. Fortunately we're over it.
I'm Doing Fine.
The series of photographs presented here was taken in February 2015 and relates to the process we've been through together, to the changes that occurred and to the essentials that remained.
Each of us Is Doing Fine
The series takes a different and more humane look at the issue of body representation (the female body especially), suggesting that that there is a place and presence for a real and even flawed human body rather than the manipulated, "perfect", flawless and false bodies that we see in advertising and commercial photography. Using the same tools and photographic language we can present even scarred skin and a shaved skull as a representation of strength, rather than weakness.
