Staring

Staring is a project that deals with an intensive study of the discomfort that occurs in the relationship between a "normal" gaze and the gaze of someone suffering from various forms of mental disorders. In the photos, it was important for me to embrace both sharpness and blur, which are connected by the omnipresent passivity. The view of someone struggling with various forms of mental disorders is often imagined by society as wrong, distorted. What really caught my attention when researching the field is the prejudice that people who suffer from psychosis and similar mental disorders must do so in a clearly visible and loud way. The problems of understanding that arise are in the intersection of the two mentioned views and for this reason I looked for both sharpness and 'unsharpness' in photographs. Clear and vague, active and passive. Towards its end, the project began to function as a form of therapy itself.
