Bikkuri Shita

A series of close up, candid portraits taken since the doors re-opened to Japan. I use a slow shutter, wide lens and off camera flash to try and create a sense of how chaotic it is in the streets of Tokyo now that the borders have reopened. Bikkuri Shita translates to “I am surprised” a phrase that often follows my taking photos of strangers unexpectedly in this way.
