Cento is a small municipality in the province of Ferrara, a land of "borders." Since the 1600s, this locality has celebrated a carnival, less famous than that of Venice but equally picturesque, with its origins documented by a famous Baroque painter born in this land, "Guercino." Once a site of abuses and violence, the Cento carnival has now replaced traditional fairytale characters with masks and floats that connect it to the carnival of Rio.
