On a pilgrimage to honor my ancestral Irish roots, I captured and created the following photographic series, rekindling and deepening a connection that stretches across time and geography. This project aims to explore the concept of movement through Ireland’s vibrant natural environment - landscapes shot out the windows of local buses and zooming cars, birds suspended in front of rocky cliff backdrops, water dripping and rippling from algae-wrapped ropes, hair and local grasses blown by the breeze.
The fleeting motions recorded in this series symbolize the perpetual rhythms that characterize our personal narratives, collective histories, and the land that bore us. The interplay between the dynamic, active scenes and the fixed, still photos provides the viewer with a playful and dynamic visual experience and an opportunity to meditate on the inescapable comings and goings on which our world operates. With sharp colors, varied visual orientations, and a common mystical or dreamy quality, the photographs invite viewers to experience the unparalleled natural landscapes and boundless spirit of Ireland.
