Dolly's Diner is a part of my work "The Other," which examines how patriarchal society affects women's identities. It portrays the struggle of conforming to self-limiting beliefs and societal pressure versus discovering one's true self. The protagonist, Irene, moved to Hollywood to seek success, but ended up as a waitress in a local diner. The piece reflects on the patterns that shape our lives and also addresses the issue of sexual abuse in various fields, widely known in the film industry. Hollywoodland, the place where dreams are made and broken, works as a metaphor for the difficulties that women still face in our modern world.
