In 1963, my uncle embarked on a road trip from New York to Mexico. Somewhere in between, his car broke down, and pulled into the nearest town: Salina, KS. He spent a couple of month there to pay for the repair, and gave an idyllic description of this small town. Salina, right in the middle of the country, is un-exceptional. This series of a portraits explores the struggle faced by small American town, and their people around the country.
