As a child, my mother would tell me stories about the experience of her grandfather in the Army and her father in the Navy. I grew up seeing photographs and military memorabilia around the house. Growing up in a family so rich in military tradition increased my awareness of the requirements that being in the service calls for. Currently, I am supporting my cousins, friends, and boyfriend, who are all beginning their careers in various military branches.
Being away from home and separated from loved ones is one of the hardest sacrifices that families endure when a member is active duty. I wish to show how military life affects those left behind at home and present a certain perspective to whom may not understand this choice in career.
This collection reflects my respect, gratitude, and admiration for the men and women who formerly served or who are currently serving in the military, including those in my own family, who have taken time out of their lives and have made many sacrifices to protect our lives and personal liberties.
