Coexisting Contrasts

In this project, I wanted to emphasize the fact that the juxtaposition and contrast between black and white and dark and light, doesn't have to be so distinctly divisive. I wanted to show that there can be journeys where you can fall into darkness and you can return to the light. I think everyone has their own darkness - their own burdens, trauma and pain. In this project, I wanted to highlight that people can coexist with their darkness. This is why some of my images hold a single subject emerging or entering the shadows. Their ability to carry on in spite of their challenges and embrace the light, shows a visual representation of our journeys through life. Overall, I wanted this project to represent the ability for contrasts like dark and light to coexist with each other, our ability to journey through both black and white, and our ability to coexist and embrace the light with our own personal darkness.
