Public transportations

Public Transportations shows photographs taken in the Parisian metro from 2015 until now. Starting out as a way of escaping boredom during the 3-hour work commute, the project has survived years, routes, and jobs. I explore subjects that are closest to my heart: colors, street photography and everyday life. Public transport, especially in overcrowded cities, is not a place for kindness: people hussle, sneak and juggle to get a seat. As a victim, as well as an active participant, I have tried to sublimate this reality: through kind and joyful eyes, the body as an object becomes a subject. These photographs show how people are filling up space, how they are filling up time, how they are sometimes showing off, sometimes hiding. Public transport remains one of the rare spaces where all forms of diversity are coexisting, while at the same time exacerbating the differences that drive us apart.
