By exploring the different elements that construct and shape our notion of masculinity, the main subjects of my portraits are the male body, sport, and the outdoor life. Showcasing physical ability, force, and the prowess of the male form, the result are images embedded with classic motifs, beauty, and the aesthetics of summer.
Mitch and I have been close friends for the past six years, and it's that trust in each other that made him the ideal person to create a series with, allowing me to further explore and develop my photography by creating a safe space for intimacy. In 'Portraits of Mitch' it is behind the veil of athleticism and classical art that we can find a masculinity that at first sight seems rigid but in actuality exists in a constant in-between state. A tug of war between muscle and vulnerability, reflecting upon an archetypal ideal of men and it’s alluring nature.
