Together Apart

‘Together Apart’ is the title of our ongoing series and our new photography book that reflects the ever-changing nature of our society. Through its composition, arrangement, and content, the series engages with the fluidity and evolution inherent in our lives. We, Anna and Maria have intertwined our individual and collaborative works, blurring the boundaries of authorship to create a unified artistic expression. The selected photographs in ‘Together Apart’ depict moments of connection and disconnection, featuring portraits, body shots, still life, and landscapes. The skin, a recurring motif, serves as both a boundary and a point of contact, symbolizing the intersection between our inner selves and the outside world. The photographs are thoughtfully arranged in a playful and unconventional manner, alternating between vibrant and muted colors, as well as between color and black-and-white images. ‘Together Apart’ delves into profound questions of identity, societal change, and the human experience. It serves as a meditative exercise, inviting readers to contemplate how memory, organization, and lived experiences shape our perception of the world.
