I contacted Gábor - the main character of my current project - because I wanted to learn about permaculture from him and to do some volunteer work in his garden. Gábor's garden is an oasis surrounded by blocks of flats in the city, in the courtyard of a functioning primary school. The essence of permaculture is that man is for nature, not the other way around. It is a rare and forward-looking method of farming, both philosophically and practically, that requires an enormous amount of knowledge and work. Gábor is entirely self-sustaining. I think it is imperative today to think about how humanity can have a more cooperative relationship with nature.
This series of images is an imprint of a friendship born out of volunteering and learning, in which I can present, with all due confidence, a man who is completely at the service of nature.
