On August 17th, 2019, I brought home a French Bulldog puppy named Pandora (aka Panda). As year’s go 2019 was a difficult one for our family. After twenty plus years of marriage my husband and I had to take a break. One can blame, make excuses, condemn ad infinitum but in reality, we lost our ability to communicate and without being able to connect and support each other the relationship disintegrated. Our family was understandably sad and a friend of mine asked if we wanted a puppy. My immediate response was NO, absolutely NOT, under NO circumstance did I want a puppy. However, my youngest was in his final year of high school and like all of us was he was experiencing the painful emotions that come with change. SO, after much nudging, I threw caution to the wind and agreed to bring Panda into our lives. What a ball of joy she was, so eager to love and please. She lived to play, to run, to jump, to race, to chase the crows on Ocean Beach that could easily pick her up and fly away. She was afraid of nothing and would go into the 58-degree ocean and chase after dogs ten times her size.
