This a continuation of my ongoing project, "Aging and Sexuality in America", wherein I create environmental portraits by photographing women forty and over in their homes. The intent is capture the true nature and multi-faceted personalities of women over forty, show depth of character through non-traditional poses and unexpected expressions, and spotlight the beauty and complexity of this under-represented demographic, thus emphasizing that all women are indeed worthy of be photographed!
This specific subset focuses on the internal struggle of waiting - in its positive and negative manifestations - unlimited hope, crippling sadness, anxiousness, fear and loneliness. These thorns of reality both bless and curse the openness and vulnerability of the female spirit.
