Despite being a developed and modern society, Japan has high levels of gender inequality. According to the Global Gender Gap Report 2023, it ranks 116th out of 146 countries. In Japan, where the patriarchy persists deeply, mothers are considered to be devoted, so they should take on the responsibilities of parenting tasks and household chores. A lot of Japanese women are forced to stop their careers after childbirth and then it takes time to return to work. These series show the struggle of women who are isolated from society and lose their identity because of the burden of childcare.
