The series is part of the "Checkpoint", in which I explored the themes of control and security of society, their contradictions and relationships. The project was shot in St. Petersburg and represents the made a copy images of x-ray prints of subway passengers' baggage. First of all, I am interested in a control subject. The Phenomenon that has penetrated deep into our lives. Surveillance cameras, monitoring of telephone conversations and social networks, searches in public places - all of these tools allow to present our society "in the context" as a kind of X-ray, depriving it of a hidden, private. The paradox of this system is interesting. All variety of its ways and means changes a vector of feeling of internal security of society, expanding borders of the legal. The person starts feeling more protected when he has means of personal security, namely defensive means (for example, gas cylinders) which replaced today the weapon. The internal sense of the necessity of possessing weapons changed, but whether is it the only effective guarantor of our safety or it is artificially grown up paranoia? Besides, role of the weapon is more increasing in the sphere of entertainments, the person is offered to shoot at other person, transforming violence to game. The weapon promptly entered our present, became part of our daily "hand luggage". I am not the creator of the original image, but making a copy of an X-ray, I think it's more than just a concept of document for which it was originally created.
