I chose to submit these 5 individual BW photographs because they represent my largest and favorite body of work called "The Edge of Reality." I like finding the abstract and then offering a hint or more of the "real" landscape, sometimes not. BW is abstract by default and so pairs well with my intent. I respond quickly, excitedly and emotionally to wonderful displays of line, design, shape and shadow, as well as form, light and motion, whether real or implied. Rather than viewing landscape as dormant, I see it as a speeded up version of the geologic process with seas entering and exiting, sediments being deposited thousands of feet deep only to be eroded by water, wind and plate movement over the long distance of time. With a nod to my favorite photographer, Henri Cartier-Bresson, I've been waiting for some of my "decisive moments" to occur!
