Labors of Love

My intention with this submission is to honor the artisans and their handcrafted work, and to highlight the skill and painstaking process necessary to create their art. An experienced cobbler resoling a pair of worn boots with carefully selected leather, for example, takes part in a deeply human exchange that cannot be replicated online. He or she may be dwarfed in the encroaching shadow of industrialization, but these craftspeople continue to toil and sacrifice because culture is rooted in human creation and interaction, not machine mass production. That is the essence of the story I plan to tell through my submission and by sharing this story, I hope that I can raise awareness among the viewers; and both inspire and motivate them to support their local artisans in their communities.
