Black and White Photography Awards 2023

These images are impromptu street environmental portraits captured around the world. In an attempt to conserve the cultural heritage of our times, I chose to capture men and women going about their daily lives. Shooting street portraiture with a medium format camera typically requires a different approach. Oftentimes the subjects stare directly into the camera and this results in intimate portraiture that is further elevated in the black and white format.
