The project "Moments of Peace" was commissioned by the Stamford Diversity Group in Stamford UK and was exhibited as part of "One World Week" in the same town. It was subsequently displayed again in two other towns.
The ambition was to raise awareness within the local community of the lives of Ukrainian refugees who had fled Ukraine following the invasion by Russia, and who were now living in the local community.
This was partly a reaction to some negative commentary locally - an example being "they take all the food from the food bank" - a totally untrue statement with food banks reporting they were short of food due to much lower donations during a cost-of-living crisis - not for any other reason.
After holding a picnic with a number of refugees, a number of families agreed to be photographed with found images (or family images) of the towns or indeed homes they had left behind - these were then displayed set against images that residents normally see.
